Reporting and complaints

Draft for legal review. This text has not yet been checked by a lawyer.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. Do not wait for us to review a report.
1. Report content in the app
If you are signed in, you can report any post, comment or chat message. Select Report under the post or comment. In chat, hover over the message (or look under it on a phone) and select Report. Pick the reason that fits best:
- Illegal content
- Harassment or bullying
- Hate
- Sexual content
- Violence or threats
- Self-harm or suicide
- Spam or scams
- Misinformation
- Other
You can add details to help moderators understand the problem. Your report goes to our moderator queue. The person you report is not told who reported them.
You can file up to 20 reports per hour. If you cannot use the report option, for example because you do not have an account, email safety@corddit.com with a link to the content.
2. What happens after you report
- We acknowledge your report immediately by email.
- A moderator reviews it against our community guidelines and Philippine law. We aim to do this within 24 hours, and faster for child sexual abuse or exploitation material, terrorism and threats to life.
- If the content breaks the rules, we remove it and may suspend the account that posted it.
- We email you when the report is resolved.
We keep a snapshot of reported content that we remove for 12 months after the report is resolved, as a safety record. See our privacy notice.
3. Child sexual abuse or exploitation material
If you see this material, report it straight away and do not share, download or screenshot it. We remove it, preserve the evidence, suspend the account permanently and report it to the authorities as the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act (Republic Act No. 11930) requires.
4. Make a complaint
You can complain to us by email at safety@corddit.com if, for example:
- you think we got a report decision wrong;
- we have not dealt with a report in the time we aim for;
- you think our tools, such as reporting, are not working properly.
5. Appeal a removal or suspension
If we remove your content or suspend your account, we will email you with the reason. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal within 14 days of that email by writing to safety@corddit.com. A suspended account cannot sign in, so appeal by email.
A different moderator from the one who made the original decision will review your appeal where possible. If we agree we got it wrong, we will restore your content or lift the suspension.
6. What to include in your email
- your username and the email address on your account, if you have one;
- a link to the content, or a description if it has been removed;
- the date of any email you received from us about the decision;
- whether this is a complaint or an appeal;
- why you think the decision was wrong, or what you want us to do.
7. Timescales
| Stage | What we aim for |
|---|---|
| Acknowledging an in-app report | Immediately, by email |
| Reviewing a report | Within 24 hours, faster for child sexual abuse or exploitation material, terrorism and threats to life |
| Sending an appeal | Within 14 days of our decision email |
| Deciding a complaint or appeal | Within 14 days. If it will take longer, we will tell you why. |
8. If you are still unhappy
